“Annie’s ‘Functional anatomy: yoga and your body’ workshop is a must whether you are a beginner or experienced practitioner of yoga. Annie is an extremely well educated yoga teacher who strives to share her knowledge and passion for anatomy with her students. I have been practicing yoga for 15 years and this workshop brought me insight into the asanas which will further and deepen my practice. ”
Have you ever had a yoga instruction you don’t understand? Is there a pose you just don’t get? Maybe you want to know how to practice sensibly for your body’s limits and strengths? You feel pain in a pose and don’t know how to adapt or correct your practice? Or you want to find a better balance between effort and ease?
On our yoga mat we seek to make peace with our bodies to help towards peace in our minds. Yet in a busy or fast-moving class or self-practice at home, it is sometimes hard to know if we are practicing safely and intelligently, or if the movements we’re making are really benefiting our Yoga journey.
This workshop explores and celebrates our fascinating, complex, extraordinary bodies – looking at how we’re put together, what our yoga movements seek to achieve, how to modify the poses for the bodies we have, and helping you to be more mindful and empowered in your practice.
The functioning of our body affects our mind, mood, decisions, behaviour, the things we say, how we say them, our relationships, emotions, how we live and how we experience life. Explore how an intelligent yoga asana practice can support a journey of growth and self-awareness.
Typically delivered in two 3-hour sessions which build on each other to create a practical introduction to functional anatomy in yoga. Day 1 looks at why we practice we asana, and how we use our feet, legs and core in the practice. Day 2 explores our spine, shoulders, hands/arms, face and breath. The sessions are taught with a fun, interactive and experiential approach to help you become more aware of the movements in your body.
